The methodology for this study is Critical Discourse Analysis with an analytical framework by Norman Fairclough. This methodology is particularly suited to revealing the power relations inherent in the textbook adoption process because textual data is analyzed for language content and discursive practices and is then situated at the institutional, state, and national levels. The textual data is then explained and interpreted to show how social practices are constructed, reproduced, and transformed.
