Thesis (M.S.)--University of Nevada, Reno, 1990.
This study investigated the relationship between wellness behaviors and personal perceptions of empowerment among baccalaureate nursing students. Sixty-eight junior and senior nursing students responded to the Lifestyle Assessment Questionaire (wellness tool) and the Power as Knowing Participation in Change Test (empowerment tool). Pearson's correlation coefficients and ANOVA were the statistical measures used to determine any correlation or difference in related patterning. A highly significant correlation was found between overall scores of empowerment and wellness behaviors. Among the six wellness dimensions, social/environmental significantly correlated with all power concepts. Conversely, the wellness dimension of occupation was lacking in significant correlation to empowerment. ANOVA revealed higher power scores among senior students and among males in social/environmental wellness. Further research might identify various occupational factors, correlations over time and differences between professional and student populations.Subjects--Topical Terms:
