520 $a The focus of most studies of teenage sexuality has been teen mothers and the problems of teen pregnancy. There is lack of studies centered on teen males and their role. This study is an attempt to explore the male adolescents' perspective on their sexual activities in relation to teen pregnancy. The data for this study were collected from African American adolescents boys from two high schools of Kansas City, Missouri. The survey instrument was specifically designed to gain information on demography, family, school performance, peer group, sex activities, contraceptives, attitude towards sex, sex partner and fatherhood, and future aspirations.
520 $a Four major determinants of sex activity (school, family, peers, and attitudes) are explored. Statistically significant relationships are found between school performance and sexual activity, and between family support and sexual activity. But the study finds peer group and attitude are not significant predictors of sexual activity.
