The findings indicate that spirituality is a main component in relapse prevention among African American women. They discussed having spirituality prior to their drug use, losing it during their addiction, and rediscovering it during treatment. Further, the majority of the women reported relying on their spirituality after treatment in order to remain clean and sober.
