This study examines the associations between African American parents' knowledge of Early Childhood Education and their intentions for placing their children in a preschool program. Approximately 200 African American parents were asked to complete the instrument designed by the researcher that included open-ended and multiple choice questions. The 156 responses to the survey were analyzed for quantitative and qualitative results. The parent participants ranked 4 factors: (a) intentions for placement, (b) parental involvement in the program, (c) awareness of preschool program, and (d) confidence of the parent to assist child in academic success. The main research question was to determine the relationship between African American parental knowledge of a preschool program and their intention for placing their children into the program.
