Developing the preliminary research questions for this dissertation required a review of the pedagogical goals and responsibilities within a critically conscious curation framework. Dissertation topics include defining the tenets of critically conscious curation in regard to research and praxis, the role of agency within arts-based research and praxis, and the role of arts educators in developing a curriculum of care. This will be explored primarily through a series of auto-ethnographic articles that use critical frameworks to define my roles and experiences as a museum curator, professional artist, and arts-educator. These themes and how they apply to this proposal are addressed in the review of literature following this abstract.
