Technology and art are examined to come to an understanding about the way the internet and data collection change the way we interact with society. Internet culture is investigated, building a frame of reference for artworks that use a combination of sculpture and new media to give form to digital and interactive works with databases, programmed lights, and digital screens. Ethics and challenges of hacking are discussed in connection to the dark web, providing a basic understanding of the concepts. Early usage of MySpace and Facebook are discussed on a personal level, setting a framework of the growth of social media and it's importance to the works. Using the Cambridge Analytica scandal these concepts are put to use discussing data collection. The ethics, morality and danger of the misuse of mass gathering of data by the government are brought into context with targeted ads and politics, leading to the internet's effect on mass communication. Using the upbringing and training of a dog, artificial intelligence is explained, leading to the birth and growth of LEDs. These two subjects are used to describe the concepts of targeted ads and their use in possible future technology. By exploring materials often used in commercial technology such as plexiglass, wiring, light, and sensors, a user's choice is called into question. The choice to use or not use these devices and the aftermath of that choice's direct effect on how we see and interact with the world are made clear.
