The purpose of this study was to explore and identify the factors influencing the development of Junior Technological College (JTC) education in Taiwan from 1945 to 1981. 520 $a Recognized methods of historical research were used throughout the study. Official document of the Republic of China at Taiwan provided the chief source of material. Publications by Taiwanese, American, and British authors on JTC education also supplied a valuable source of information and individual ideas. The collected data were analyzed, organized, and criticized for presentation in modified topical chronological order.
520 $a Chapter One stated the problem and its relevant background information.
520 $a Chapter Two contained a brief history of higher education under Japanese rule and reconstruction by the Nationalist Government, as well as the effects of land reform on JTC education.
520 $a Chapter Three explored Taiwan's national economic plans and policies, United States' aid to Taiwan, the impact of the nine-year public school program, as well as how the system of Joint College Entrance Examination influenced on JTC development.
520 $a Chapter Four described the development of JTC education in Taiwan, such as: founding a new senior institute of technology; revising JTC curriculum and facilities; activating the proposals of the Fifth National Education Convention and the seminar on junior college education; surveying the five-year junior college program; and establishing manpower planning.
