Thesis (Ph.D.)--Capella University, 2017.
This study examined whether a relationship exists between organizational effectiveness and ethical behavior of leaders as perceived by employees in the hospitality industry. This non-experimental, correlational study utilized the Index of Perceived Organizational Effectiveness (IPOE) and the Ethical Leadership Scale (ELS) to examine the relationship between organizational effectiveness and perceived ethical behavior of leaders by employees. This approach allowed for an objective analysis of a large amount of data collected in ways that limited biased interpretations. It represented a non-experimental, correlational design to determine the existence, strength, and direction of relationship patterns among organizational effectiveness and ethical behavior of leaders. The survey was distributed to eligible participants through the use of Survey Monkey Audience Service. The findings of the survey determined there is a statistically significant positive correlation between hospitality industry employees' perceptions organizational effectiveness and their perceptions of the ethical behaviors of their leaders. This study provides knowledge to hospitality organizational stakeholders to understand better the relationship between organizational effectiveness and ethical behaviors of leadership.
