Shot and collected over the past six years, these photographs serve as a lucid transcript of the growth, stagnation, and deterioration of my family unit. The following collection began as an exercise designed to create an observational separation from my daily routine. The process quickly transformed into a therapeutic ritual that allowed me to explore my identity as it correlates and responds to my environment.

520 $a With my Holga camera on my person nearly every day, I shot a representative cross-section of my humble reality. The simple design, limited features and lightweight body of the camera added an enchantment which the stereotypical digital SLR camera would be unable to provide, emphasizing the process, and experience, of taking a picture in lieu of the final images themselves.
520 $a Allowing the unique properties of the Holga to determine color, vignetting, and focal point I captured the awkward, the humorous, and the sentimentally mundane during my infrequent and sporadic visits to my childhood home. Along with photographing ceremonies, celebrations and holidays I recorded private moments not typically shared outside the family unit.
520 $a Working from the outside looking in, I photographed changes within my family through seasons, semesters, and familial anniversaries. This gave me the unique perspective to realize changes within myself as an individual and artist while residing outside the geographical boundaries of my childhood community.
