Teachers' perspectives of the transition experience that Montessori students made to a traditional high school in one school district was examined in this basic interpretive qualitative inquiry. The participants were ninth grade teachers, middle level Montessori teachers, and district level teacher trainers. Through a series of interviews, the teachers' perspectives were analyzed to evaluate this experience. The interviews were transcribed in order to analyze the data. The analysis of the data yielded three major themes: Successful Montessori Characteristics, Obstacles to the Transition, and Suggestions for Future Success.

The evidence gained from the transcriptions was used to support the findings of the study. The results of the study revealed that the experience was a positive transition overall with a few minor obstacles that need addressing. Previous studies have examined the transition that Montessori students make to high school. This study takes it a step further by identifying specific obstacles and offering suggestions for improving the transition experience.
