Group organizational citizenship behavior (GOCB) is the exhibition of organizational citizenship behavior by an entire group. This study examines the relational effects of leadership, cohesion, and norms on GOCB among hospitality management teams. By utilizing a mixed methods research design, 31 hotel and restaurant management teams were examined to determine the impact of group processes on GOCBs. Management team members were provided with a survey instrument to examine the form of leadership, level of cohesion, and group norming processes. A subset of the management teams participated in face-to-face interviews where they revealed more about the internal workings of the team. This research set out to determine the relational effects of group processes on GOCB in an effort to advance the study of GOCB and provide beneficial information to organizations.
