The purpose of this study was to field test an interactive courseware that teaches color theory and harmonious color selection. The software was created using Macromedia Director and uses text, animation and interactive exercises to accomplish its goal. The goal of the software is to provide the non-professional content creator with a basic understanding of color theory and strategies for making harmonious color selections. Sixteen high school students were given a self-evaluation form and a pretest prior to using the Interactive Color courseware. They were also given a self-evaluation form and a posttest after using the software. The results from the affective survey show that students felt the software was effective at teaching color theory and harmonious color selection, while the t test results show the software was not effective at teaching color theory and harmonious color selection.*Subjects--Topical Terms:
