This study examines the best practices and innovative strategies of community outreach programs in four American Museums: The Denver Art Museum in Denver, Colorado; The Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota; The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston in Houston, Texas; and The Mint Museums in Charlotte, North Carolina. All museums in this study are deeply engaged in efforts to connect with their community.{09}The factors that foster their success and innovative strategies in community outreach are examined and described in this study. Their philosophies of success, experiences in connecting with the community and the lessons that have been learned as they developed successful community programs to engage their communities are revealed in this study.
