Thesis (D.M.)--University of Phoenix, 2004.
This research project focuses on the challenges of creating viable learning solutions in the field of executive education and development and an alternative that may be considered in developing effective and responsive learning solutions in a highly competitive business environment. The quantitative quasi-experimental study with a qualitative feature compares and explores two different learning modalities: classroom training and e-learning training, to determine the preferred modality of an executive population in a global automotive manufacturer. Two survey instruments using quantitative data are deployed with an executive population. The survey instruments also include qualitative items, which are used to inform the quantitative findings and allow the researcher to gain further insights regarding executive reactions to the learning solutions. Results of this study provide executive development training strategists with quantitative and qualitative feedback from executives regarding classroom and e-learning training solutions. This study also contributes to the field of executive development by providing insights on an approach other than the traditional classroom delivery in the development of executives in the workplace that responds to building executive capability in a highly competitive business environment.
