The basic problems of the Korean Church today are stopping rapid growth because of the lack of response to the changing situation in Korea and the encapsulation of the majority of lay-people in the Korean Christian churches. 520 $a What is the ideal model of lay ministry in Korea today? To answer this question, the author examines the Biblical and theological views of the role of laity. The author gives a historical study of lay ministry and lay ministry in Korean Church history, both in the Roman Catholic and Protestant Churches from 1884 to 1919. The author refers to the early church before the mission and the early mission church in Korea without Korean pastors, as well as to the role of the laity in the movements in 1907, 1910, and 1919. In the last chapter, the author evaluates lay ministry in Korean Christian history and presents ideas and models to develop lay activities in the Korean Church. This study is primarily based on library research.
