This study was designed to develop an instructional unit for halftone photography integrating a computer program. This instructional unit is intended to be used for the graphic arts educational system at the college level. The unit contains halftone photographic materials, educational objectives, an instructional package including instructor's manual, instructional supporting materials, and a specially designed computer program.Subjects--Topical Terms:

520 $a The content of the halftone photographic materials was evaluated and endorsed by a three-member panel, two of whom are college level instructors in the graphic arts educational system; the other member is from the graphic arts industry, introduced to the researcher by the Association of Graphic Arts (AGA).*
520 $a The instructional package was tested, evaluated and overwhelmingly supported by the students and instructors who participated in the field tests, which took place in four classes at two colleges: Rhode Island College and New York City Technical College. The data from these evaluations were tabulated and analyzed, and the results appear to indicate that the instructional unit is appropriate and effective for graphic arts education. ftn*Association of the Graphic Arts (AGA) is a business association serving the graphic art/communication industries of Greater New York, Long Island and Northern New Jersey.
