This study examined the perceptions of at-risk young adult participants in the Orange County Conservation Corps. The Orange County Conservation Corps is a non-profit organization that employs young at-risk adults to assist them in obtaining their high school diploma and important employment skills, and it also assists participants in the transition into post-secondary education or future employment opportunities.

This study examined the perceptions of at-risk young adult participants in the Orange County Conservation Corps. The Orange County Conservation Corps is a non-profit organization that employs young at-risk adults to assist them in obtaining their high school diploma and important employment skills, and it also assists participants in the transition into post-secondary education or future employment opportunities.

This research was evaluative and descriptive. Quantitative methodologies were utilized, and descriptive statistics described the demographics and attitudes of participants.

Results of this study indicated success with the educational component of the program. Approximately 48% of the current participants earned a high school diploma or GED, and the remainder of the sample intended to earn their diploma or GED. Additionally, 85% of the current sample planned to enroll in post-secondary education with 26% already admitted. The long-term effectiveness and impact of the program were inconclusive largely because of a low response rate.
