Thesis (M.A.)--Long Island University, The Brooklyn Center, 2010.
The media's portrayal of the black women's image will be examined through the lenses of rap and hip-hop music videos and lyrics. This image is misrepresented and feared as a reality among the black community. There seems to be misunderstanding between the authenticity of these videos and what the African American youth emulate. Through extensive research and various analyses of media theories I will propose that these negative images have potential effects on the African American community, the development of the youth and how it impacts social and sexual choices.
