0 billion casino gaming industry growing at an annual rate of 10%, gaming education is struggling to keep pace. This mixed methods study triangulates the perceived educational needs of gaming industry professional with course content of existing casino management degree programs. The qualitative phase of the research compared casino management course descriptions from the three existing on-ground casino management degree programs with the single online program. The quantitative phase of the research included a survey of 1,064 middle managers working in the casino entertainment industry. The Gursoy-Swanger model of modern hospitality education provided a basis for the comparison of educational programs and industry professional needs. Results of the study demonstrate that gaming professionals view the course subject of ethics, leadership, preparation for industry employment, management/organization, operations analysis, internships, and an industry overview as important. Current casino management degree programs have an opportunity to reconsider course offerings based on the perceived educational needs of industry professionals. The course topics of ethics and leadership were considered the most important by industry professionals and should be incorporated into modern casino management degree programs. The casino gaming industry has experienced extraordinary global growth over the past two decades; gaming education needs to catch up.
