This study identifies the contributing factors to success of Texas college students taking history core requirement classes. The participants in this study were undergraduate college students who have been enrolled in the core required History 201: U.S. History Through 1877, at a north Texas University. The research model and method of this study was quantitative. Three types of instrumentation were administered: a survey, a validated Texas state test, and the final grades in the college history course. Focusing on descriptive statistics, relationships were determined between different high school social studies classes, instructional methods, preparation, and teacher qualifications to student success in college level history.
