The general purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between school climate and teacher job satisfaction. In addition, the selected demographic variables of gender and race were examined for their predictive relationship with the criterion variables of school climate and teacher job satisfaction. The ultimate goal of this study was to provide educators with the information about the variables related to school climate. The subjects of this study were teachers from selected high schools in south Mississippi during the summer and fall of the 1997-98 school year. All data were collected from the NASSP School Climate Survey and NASSP Teacher Satisfaction Survey. The multiple linear regression technique was used to test for a significant relationship between the criterion variable of school climate and the predictor variables of teacher job satisfaction, gender, and race. The same technique was used to test for a significant independent relationship between school climate and teacher job satisfaction while controlling the remaining individual variables. In addition, this technique was used to test for a significant interaction between school climate on each of the remaining individual variables. It was found that a significant relationship existed between school climate and teacher job satisfaction, gender, and race. In other words, the findings indicated that school climate and job satisfaction, gender, and race are statistically related. No independent relationship was found between school climate and gender or race. In addition, there was not a significant interaction between school climate on each of the remaining individual variables.
