520 $a Respondent ages ranged from 18-31 with 15 females and 16 males. Most respondents were white (90%). Seniors dominated at 45% followed by freshmen at 23%. Most respondents (74%) did not take ADHD medications prior to testing.
520 $a A purposive sample of 31 students with ADHD read eight passages and answered comprehension questions. Testing occurred in four identical testing rooms, each outfitted with two lighting scenes at 30 footcandles, providing eight testing situations. Data included reading scores and video tapes documenting test completion times and off-task behaviors.
520 $a Statistics included frequencies and an analysis of variance repeated measures design. Students produced higher test scores under compact fluorescent and halogen. Longest times/attention spans occurred with halogen and fluorescent full-spectrum. Fewest behaviors occurred with compact fluorescent and standard incandescent.
