The first purpose of this study was to test the stability of the Family Life Sex Education-Goal Questionnaire (FLSE-GQ). Specifically, this study examined whether the factor dimension themes published by Godin et al., (1998) remained constant using data collected from teachers and parents in Pennsylvania. The second purpose of this study was to determine if there were differences in teachers and parents' attitudes regarding the goals of the family life sexuality education program. Specifically, this research determined if there were significant differences in the mean ratings of controversial and non-controversial factor dimension themes between the following groups: (1) public school Health and Physical Education teachers of grades 6--12; (2) parents of children enrolled in the public schools grades 6--12; (3) Health and Physical Education teachers at religious schools grades 6--12; and (4) parents of children enrolled in religious schools grades 6--12 in Pennsylvania. This quantitative study utilized the long form of the Family Life Sex Education Goal Questionnaire (FLSE-GQ) in order to collect the data for this study. The findings indicated no significant difference between parents and teachers or between religious school and public school teachers and parents regarding the non-controversial factor dimensions (Life Skills and STD's and HIV Prevention). There were significant differences between teachers and parents for the controversial factor dimension (Controversial Topics in Sexuality Education) as well as a significant difference between religious teachers and parents vs. public school teachers and parents for the controversial factor dimension (Secondary Prevention and Problems Associated with Sexuality). This study contributed to the growing body of knowledge regarding the importance of implementing a comprehensive sexuality education program in grades 6--12.
