To Cut My Hair: M'dor L'dor, From Generation To Generation, is an impressionistic memoir that unveils how my experiences studying the Shoah allowed me to develop an unusual outlook on my childhood and my relationships with my grandparents. It is the story of how I finally realized that understanding the Shoah and my grandparents meant knowing that I could never understand them. And it is the story of how I learned about their pasts and their love for me through their silences. Furthermore, this memoir explains how my profound connection to my family's heritage and my understanding of the Shoah led me to the decision not to cut my hair.
