The method was comprised of data from student responses to an open ended online survey and was analyzed from a qualitative content analysis approach. Thirteen themes regarding the student experience emerged which were clustered into three dimensions: community, identity and practice. Themes in the community dimension that emerged were: engagement with peers and faculty, belonging and connectedness, learning from others, learning through connected curriculum. Themes in the Identity dimension that emerged were: self-identity, others-identity and learning-identity. Themes in the Practice dimension that emerged were: access, time management, efficiency, promptness, active-learning and perceived way of preferred learning.

The utilization of peer to peer with faculty interaction through online discussions during cooperative education work experiences enhanced the student's co-op experience. This form and frequency of communication is effective, beneficial and valuable for the student while on co-op. It creates a significant valuable experience and learning environment for the student.
