According to Judge, Locke, and Durham (1997), four factors---Self-Esteem, Generalized Self-Efficacy, Locus of Control, and Neuroticism/Emotional Stability---compose a high-order construct that they have termed core self-evaluations . As applied studies to date have utilized a consistent and familiar set of measures of these four factors, it is unclear whether other measures of these yield the same high-order construct. To investigate this, 482 students were administered identical measures of those utilized by Erez and Judge (2001) and four additional measures of the four factors which have not been considered in research involving the core self-evaluations construct. Confirmatory factor analysis of respective sets of measures suggests an improvement in model fit with the introduction of a second-order latent factor. As an exploratory piece of this study, students were also administered the Epstein (2001) Constructive Thinking Inventory (CTI) and the Abercrombie Self-Evaluation Construct (ASEC) measure. Exploratory factor analysis of the CTI and ASEC measure did not reveal that the total variance of either measure could be explained by the factors of Locus of Control, Generalized Self-Efficacy, Self-Esteem, and Emotional Stability.
