air for 3 hours. The working hypothesis was that heating the torso may result in an increased circulation of blood to the extremities to dissipate the extra heat. In turn, warming of the extremities may be achieved. Indirectly rewarming the barehands by torso heating was compared to wearing mitts to rewarm the hands. Overall, body and extremity skin temperatures, finger blood flow and heat flux, and subjective body and finger comfort were all significantly (p $<$ 0.05) greater with torso heating. In conclusion, the application of heat to the torso can maintain the fingers and toes at a comfortable level for an extended period of time during cold exposure.
