This project establishes a mathematical framework that leads to improved understanding of accelerated MRI reconstruction methods, including GRAPPA, SENSE and UNFOLD. Classic techniques are explored and reformulated as multi-dimensional convolution and windowing operations, revealing stark similarities among them. Several variations on the GRAPPA, SENSE and UNFOLD methods are developed within this framework and are implemented in the MATLAB programming environment. Image reconstruction experiments are conducted and results confirm the validity of the reformulations. This unified framework can provide a tool for researchers to develop improved algorithms.Subjects--Topical Terms:
