The purpose of this research was to investigate the factors that support the effective use of technology in the P–12 classroom, especially the use of the GIS (Geographic Information System), in the field of social in Jackson studies. In particular, this study investigated two questions: (1) First, how can the instructional technology be used effectively in P–12 social studies classrooms? (2) Second, with respect to GIS, is there a potential gain in its use for teaching social studies to P–12 students? And if there is that potential gain then, is GIS currently used effectively in Public schools?Subjects--Topical Terms:
