A T-test was employed to compare parents in both locations and males and females on average parental expectations, parental beliefs, social networks, factors affecting participation, parental involvement at home and parental involvement at school. Multiple regressions were used to determine whether or not the parental characteristics had an effect on parental involvement at home and at school. A series of one way ANOVA's determined whether the various groups differed in parental expectations, parental beliefs, social networks, factors affecting participation, and parental involvement at home and at school. Kruskal-Wallis was also used in this study. A post-hoc Scheffe test was carried out to determine which groups differed from one another. The results revealed statistically significant differences on parental involvement at home and at school, parental characteristics including parental expectations, parental beliefs, social networks and factors affecting participation, and also in the demographic factors between the parents in Northern Pingtung, Taiwan and the parents in Pocatello-Chubbuck. Idaho, USA.
