The main objective of this study was to determine a profile of the farmers in terms of the social, economic, demographic, administrative and the business characteristics that influence in computer adoption for farm management in Puerto Rico. To achieve this objective, a questionnaire was designed and surveyed the Island's farmers. Two methods were used to summarize and analyze the data: descriptive measures and logistic regression. The variable used for the study was the computer use for farm management purposes.

520 $a The descriptive analysis showed cross frequency tables using the social, economic, demographic, administrative and business characteristics included in the study. The variables included in the descriptive analysis were: agricultural region, education, farm size, gross income, age, principal commodity, tenancy, Internet use, use of farm records, type of records and where do they keep the records. For the logistic regression, the dependent variable is the computer use for farm management purposes and the dependent variables were: age, farm size, gross income of the principal commodity, tenancy, education level, principal commodity and farm record keeping in the farm.
520 $a In the descriptive analysis showed that age, education level, farm size, principal commodity and gross income influence computer use for farm management purposes. Like the descriptive analysis the logistic regression showed that those variables were significant in the model, this means that the variables can predict computer use. Both analysis showed that computer use increases if: education level is high, farm size is big, gross income is high, farmers are young and depends on the principal commodity produced on the farm.
