Graffiti: Vandalism or urban art form?
Clabaugh, Penelope B.
Graffiti: Vandalism or urban art form?
- 44 p.
Adviser: P. Sanchez.
Thesis (M.A.)--California State University, Dominguez Hills, 2000.
Although many observers consider modern urban graffiti an obnoxious act of vandalism, others view it as the quintessential art form of the alienated urban self. Graffiti has been a form of expression ever since humans had the ability to symbolize through graphic means, and though it tends to be connected with urban struggles, wars, politics and rebellion, its variants, including cave paintings, petroglyphs, and unofficial public murals, appear to strive for some status as popular art form.
