This study will ask: How can employee recognition be utilized to motivate employees within Vancouver City Savings Credit Union? Currently, there is a recognition system in place within the Intranet environment of the organization where individuals can recognize colleagues for exemplary work. The ability to identify quality effort with such an innovative computer application is a benefit, but the end result may not be powerful enough for each individual as we are all unique and are fulfilled in different ways or by different means. The opportunity to understand recognition, its different types or forms and how it can be utilized as a stimulant to motivate employees guides this research. The success of understanding recognition can be beneficial to all the stakeholders. Furthermore, this research will be guided by the eight ethical principles of the RRU Research Ethics Policy (2004) to ensure the rights and interests of the participants are safeguarded.
