Adviser: Peter Chang.
Thesis (D.M.I.T.)--Lawrence Technological University, 2008.
Businesses are faced with the challenges of cataloging, searching and retrieving digital asset information in order to gain advantage in a fiercely competitive environment. Digitally tracking assets consists of many different solutions. There is a great need for creating scalable systems that can track unlimited assets with unlimited asset attributes. This dissertation examines flexible architecture that is capable of configuring objects based on the attributes of an object and that also contains all the business-required data. The attributes are input from the business administrators and selected for searching, viewing and editing by the users. This flexibility allows for initial set-up and configuration at the business unit level. The data elements that are stored in the system should be soft-coded in attribute tables, thus allowing them to be drawn to screens, interfaces and reports with minimal or no IT involvement.

This dissertation concentrates on research of the architectural database model implementation for the flexible, object-oriented model. The attribute methodology will be used wherever practical and will always be considered before hard-coding elements of the application.
