This critical review of the literature examines the integration of time-limited dynamic psychotherapy (TLDP) with psychopharmacology as an effective and flexible treatment approach for various psychiatric and psychological conditions. The author critically analyzes various peer reviewed journal articles and other reputable resources to provide support for clinicians using TLDP and psychotropic medications in treating patients. The author specifically investigates the available literature regarding the effectiveness of integrating treatments. The author describes Hanna Levenson's TLDP model and various types of psychotropic medications and explores the value of each separate treatment modality and the potential benefits of combining psychopharmacology and psychotherapy. This is followed by an investigation of the more specific integration of TLDP and psychopharmacology. The author concludes by outlining future research that would aid in supporting the integration of these treatments.
