Telehealth has undergone dramatic and swift growth in recent years, with substantial coverage discussing logistical and functional concerns or the cost savings benefits for providers and community members. However, fragmentation exists between the level of education given to public health nurses (PHNs) and the requirements needed to serve clients efficiently with telehealth. Because of minimal training, telehealth has been slow to adopt in home visiting programs, which can be remedied by targeting training to address the unique circumstances PHNs face. This project aims to improve nursing knowledge, perceptions, skills, and behaviors regarding telehealth to improve client services with enhanced effectiveness and efficiency. The PDSA methodology is applied to a mixed-method study to efficiently monitor change in nurses' knowledge skills and behavior following the completion of an individualized training program geared specifically for PHNs. Participants were PHNS who currently work in home visiting programs, have the necessary and proper equipment to provide telehealth visits, and agree to participate in the study. The project analyzes the impact of targeted education on telehealth communication and etiquette to change PHNs' knowledge, skills, and behavior. As telehealth competencies are becoming fundamental to nursing care, implications for practice recommend understanding the unique communicative skills necessary and training accordingly. Further consideration of these competencies should be evaluated with deliberation to include telehealth curriculum into nursing schooling.
