The roles and responsibilities of healthcare workers are to provide the best quality of care to everyone they encounter despite social factors like sex and gender, race and ethnicity, sexual orientation, age, body habitus, or socioeconomic status. Neither of these factors makes a person have more or less value to their health. The purpose of this research study is to evaluate the healthcare system by using a non-experimental, qualitative method and content analysis approach to explore resources available in the public domain that point to claims of bias, discrimination, and stigma associated with social factors like gender, race and ethnicity, sexual orientation, age, body habitus, and socioeconomic status in the healthcare workplace. The research question for this study is, how does bias affect health care services? The content analysis showed that for sex and gender, and race and ethnicity factors, Female and ethnic minorities were underrepresented in the resources explored. Both sexual orientation and body habitus had a stigma associated with HIV and AIDS conditions. Lastly, age and socioeconomic status had similarities in discrimination due to perceived physical appearances. The final analysis was conducted using the constructs of the health and stigma discrimination framework.

Las funciones y responsabilidades del personal de salud consisten en proporcionar la mejor calidad de atencion a todas las personas con las que se encuentren, a pesar de factores sociales como el sexo y el genero, la raza y la etnia, la orientacion sexual, la edad, el habito corporal o el estatus socioeconomico. Ninguno de estos factores hace que una persona tenga mas o menos valor para su salud. El proposito de este estudio de investigacion es evaluar el sistema de salud utilizando un metodo no experimental, cualitativo y un enfoque de analisis de contenido para explorar los recursos disponibles en el dominio publico que apuntan a reclamaciones de sesgo, discriminacion y estigma asociados a factores sociales como el sexo, la raza y la etnia, la orientacion sexual, la edad, el habitus corporal y el estatus socioeconomico en el lugar de trabajo en el ambito de la salud. La pregunta de investigacion de este estudio es: ¿como afecta el sesgo a los servicios de atencion sanitaria? El analisis de contenido mostro que, en los factores sexo y genero, y raza y etnia, las mujeres y las minorias etnicas estaban baja representadas en los recursos explorados. Tanto la orientacion sexual como el habito corporal presentaban un estigma asociado a las condiciones de VIH y SIDA. Por ultimo, la edad y el estatus socioeconomico presentaban similitudes en la discriminacion debida a la apariencia fisica percibida. El analisis final se realizo utilizando los constructos del marco de discriminacion por salud y estigma.
