The purpose of this qualitative descriptive study was to describe speech language pathologist perceptions of the usefulness of stuttering-related podcasts to improve their knowledge of how to treat stuttering. The current study included 10 speech-language pathologists, nine of whom were based in schools and one of whom worked in a geriatric home health setting. The research questions were established based on Vygotsky's (1978) sociocultural theory of learning. All 10 speech-language pathologists listened to a stuttering-related podcast and then participated in one-on-one semi-structured interviews. Interviews were recorded and transcribed, and a thematic analysis of the transcripts was used. The results of these interviews revealed six major themes regarding the usefulness of stuttering-related podcasts to improve speech-language pathologist knowledge of the treatment of stuttering: (a) participants described positive perceptions and learning outcomes related to the podcast, (b) participants made connections between the podcast contents and their personal experiences treating clients who stutter, (c) participants described positive perceptions and learning outcomes related to their previous experiences treating clients who stutter, (d) participants related the podcast contents to their past experiences treating clients who stutter, (e) participants described technology and accessibility issues as a limitation of using podcasts to improve their understanding of stuttering treatments, and (f) participants described the lack of opportunities to interact with the presenters as a limitation of using podcasts to improve their understanding of stuttering treatments. The participants' direct quotes are used to support these themes. Speech-language pathologists' perceptions of the usefulness of stuttering-related podcasts to improve SLP knowledge of the treatment of stuttering is discussed. Results from the participants' experiences indicate that stuttering-related podcasts are a useful tool for improving speech-language pathologist knowledge of the treatment of stuttering. Speech-language pathologists are responsible for maintaining the most up-to-date and evidence-based knowledge related to their practice, and podcasts may be an effective way to acquire this knowledge.
