Due to the growing numbers of Indonesian Muslim Background Believers (MBBs) who choose to return to Islam, the study takes the interest in exploring the journeys of five Indonesian MBBs who return to Islam. While many have done research on Indonesian faithful MBBs, little effort is found on the deconversion process of Indonesian MBBs. This study focuses on the stories of Indonesian MBBs who have decided to return to Islam. The study seeks to understand the experience of MBBs' deconversion through narrative inquiry. It attempts to understand their journeys in returning to Islam. There are 5 participants, 2 males and 3 females, ranging between the ages of 30 and 70. To determine the main causes of their deconversion, the study collects data through interviewing the participants. Five things emerged from the study. Strong attachment to their family and deep Islamic roots seem to be the major leading causes to their decision to return to Islam. Discrimination from surrounding community and the divinity of Jesus might have some influence in their decision making. And their disappointment toward pastoral ethics raises a concern due to its effects on MBBs' perception of the church and Christianity.
