This edited book analyses current trends in science communication and gathers research on practices related to the construction of digital identity and visibility, emerging conflicts related to the public availability and appropriation of scientific culture, and ways of validating and disseminating scientific knowledge in new digital contexts. Drawing on a selection of papers presented in the InterGedi Conference (Zaragoza, December 2021), the main goal of the volume is to identify and explore emerging professional practices and challenges in the digital communication of science through innovative multimodal genres. This book will be of interest to postgraduates, doctoral students, practitioners and researchers in the fields of discourse analysis, sociolinguistics, digital media, multimodality and communication studies. Ramón Plo-Alastrué is Professor of English Linguistics at the Universidad de Zaragoza, Spain. His interests include the analysis of traditional written academic genres, the identification of cultural norms and conventions adhered to in institutional research in the academic 'semiperiphery' and currently, as a member of the InterGedi research group, the analysis of digital genres. Isabel Corona is a Senior Lecturer in English Studies at the Universidad de Zaragoza, Spain. Her research has focused on the analysis of academic and professional genres and discourses in traditional and new media contexts. She has participated in projects on international commercial arbitration practices, on generic integrity and on web-mediated visibility of scientific research. She is currently engaged in the processes of multimodal recontextualization in professional digital contexts.
