By the examination of biblical and academic resources, there are indicators that a majority of children raised in Christian homes leave the church and continue to demonstrate inactivity in the church as they enter adulthood. These results appear to be caused by the lack of spiritual leadership and family discipleship within the home. A majority of parents today depend upon the church to disciple their children. In Deuteronomy 6:4-9, the Bible presents clear instruction and direction for parents to spiritually lead and raise their children to depend upon God and obey Him diligently through out their lives. The project aims to develop a strategy that will equip parents to lead their children spiritually by and through their spiritual leadership. The project consisted of developing a strategy that will later be implemented as a family discipleship seminar that will take place over a Friday evening and Saturday morning. The seminar will expose parents to in depth biblical instruction on family discipleship from Deuteronomy 6:4-9 and other supporting biblical texts. By exposing the seminar participants to the biblical mandates for family discipleship, parents will be better equipped to raise their children because the information impacts the parents and provides the ability and confidence to make intentional efforts to lead their children and families spiritually through family discipleship.
