This professional project was an integration of images for preaching and teaching with the personality system known as the enneagram. The project involved developing system of preparation for preaching and teaching that would most effectively communicate with people across the broadest scope of their differences. The concern for preparation for effective preaching was two-fold. One concern was to prepare for communicating with people beyond a superficial level. The other concern was to communicate effectively considering the many personal differences within a congregation. The ancient enneagram system claims to address both of these concerns. The enneagram claims to be a system describing the essential natures of humanity. The studies of enneagram types describe the unconscious motivations and passions. Through a description of the nine enneagram types, the system claims that all human nature is included in one of the nine enneagram types. This professional project developed a system of observation and input from study groups of people representing each of the enneagram types for the purpose of testing and developing a system for preparation for preaching that would address these concerns for exegesis that would communicate in depth and across differences.
