Cyberbullying is a recent phenomenon that has extended traditional bullying behaviors to online platforms. With the increased use of technology, youth and adolescents share personal information about their lives using online platforms such as social media. Because of the increased sharing of personal information on social media, youth and adolescents are more vulnerable to cyberbullying. This study allowed parents to describe their experiences of responding to and coping with their children's victimization based on appearance-related cyberbullying. The literature on cyberbullying indicates that we know increased use of technology has contributed to more incidents of appearance-related cyberbullying among youth, and we know that past research studies on the effects of cyberbullying have been conducted among youth, adolescents, and college students; however, we do not know the effects that the appearance-related cyberbullying of youth has on the victims' parents. Cyberbullying continues to be prevalent and harmful with long-term, adverse effects on victims, including low self-esteem, depression, and loneliness; therefore, researchers are concerned with identifying the risk and protective factors associated with adolescents' involvement in cyber-harassment. Since parents are considered either risk factors or protective factors for cyberbullying victimization, their coping strategy and responses are essential in understanding the effects of their children's victimization. The research methodology used for the study was qualitative. The specific qualitative research methodology used was generic qualitative research, which investigates people's attitudes, opinions, or beliefs about experiences. The population recruited for the study included parents between the ages of 30-60 years old whose children were victims of appearance-related cyberbullying. The study included heterosexual, homosexual, adoptive, foster, cisgender, and transgender parents who were either single, married, or cohabitating. As mentioned, this study was conducted using a generic qualitative research methodology. Ten participants were interviewed on the Zoom communications application using semi-structured interview questions, and the collected data were analyzed using thematic analysis. Ten study participants expressed commonalities regarding how they responded to and coped with the appearance-related cyberbullying victimization of their children. The overall strategies included communicating with their children, reaching out to the school, establishing boundaries on Internet access, reaching out to others for support, and encouraging parent involvement.
