Spectators and their behaviors continue to be an important factor in sports competition and performance. During softball games at a collegiate level, spectators take on roles that can potentially change players' performance. Many spectators are true fanatics in the sense of their life priorities. The purpose of this study was to examine college softball coaches' experiences regarding specific episodes in their careers where spectators' behavior played a role in the competition. This study explored an understanding of different types of spectators' behavior observed during gameplay from the perspective of softball coaches. Through generic qualitative methodology and using a lens of social constructivism, this study focused on interviews of collegiate softball coaches who have witnessed the episodes of spectators during gameplay. The results suggested there were five major themes which emerged from this study, they were as follows: a) Impact of Spectators' behavior; b) Characteristics of Spectators; c) Influenced Position Players; d) Pre-game Preparation; and e) Coaches Strategies. There were three minor themes which emerged in this study: a) Parents; b) Tournaments; and c) Rivalry Games.
