Users of systems and technology benefit from its capabilities, including improved communication, data sharing, mobility, and operational efficiencies. However, within these capabilities are vulnerabilities such as unauthorized access and poor controls, which, if unaddressed, could result in wide-scale data breaches impacting individuals and businesses. Regardless of industry or size, business leaders play an important role in preventing such crises for their organizations. The purpose of this non-experimental, quantitative correlational study was to examine the relationships between Arkansas small business leaders' effectiveness in managing cybersecurity and information technology(IT) governance policies and their impact on perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, user behavior, and actual use of workplace systems. The sample population, based in the United States, comprised owners and IT leaders for small businesses who are responsible for making the business policy decisions. Using six research questions, the researcher attempted to answer if relationships exist between cybersecurity policy, information technology policy, perceived use, perceived ease of use, user behavior, and actual use of the systems in the workplace. According to the research conducted, a significant statistical relationship did not exist between perceived ease of use and user behavior to use a workplace system. However, significant statistical relationships did exist between all the other variables. Participants in this study were shown to be generally proficient using their workplace systems, and their system knowledge, user-behavior and actual use of these systems were influenced by cybersecurity and IT policies implemented in their workplaces.
