The global Christian Church is the divine entity ordained by God to carry out the plan of God in the world among every tribe, tongue, and nation. Recording the activity of God in particular places among a particular people goes beyond the mere value of recorded history but serves as a testimony to the faithfulness of God to see His gospel proclaimed throughout the earth and His Church established in every place where people receive the message by faith. This dissertation provides an original look at the establishment and development of the Vietnamese Assemblies of God.Through qualitative research methodology, this study seeks to provide a thorough, orderly account of the founding and development of the Vietnamese Assemblies of God. This research was conducted primarily through various types of interviews and document analysis. The collection of data was organized by chronological and geographical distinctions, and its validity verified through a process of triangulation: verifying data from historic literature with my own research findings for accuracy. This study of the ecclesial history of the Vietnamese Assemblies of God divides into two primary time blocks, with each segment having two subcategories. The first segment captures the founding and early days of the Vietnamese Assemblies of God. The first subcategory looks at the period from its founding in 1973 until Communist reunification in 1975, while the second subcategory examines the period from 1976- 1988, a period of tremendous persecution and the near extinction of the Vietnamese Assemblies of God. The second segment of this ecclesial history captures the organic reestablishment of the Vietnamese Assemblies of God-despite stiff opposition-and traces its development up until the official legal re-recognition by the Vietnamese government as a religious entity. The first subcategory covers 1989-2009, while the second subcategory looks at 2010-2019.
