In the current study, the researcher aimed to identify the relationship between level of body dissatisfaction in adult men and women and duration of social media use. Generation, gender, and physical appearance comparison were included as mediating variables. Participants (N = 102) were recruited via an advertisement on the researcher's private Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter accounts, and completed a brief demographics questionnaire, a social media use questionnaire, the Eating Attitudes Test-26, the Sociocultural Attitudes Towards Appearance Questionnaire-3, and the Physical Appearance Comparison Scale-Revised. In the current study, the researcher revealed that duration of social media use and gender did not have a significant effect on level of body dissatisfaction among men and women. However, there was a significant difference in level of body dissatisfaction between individuals belonging to younger generations and individuals belonging to older generations. Specifically, individuals belonging to younger generations reported higher levels of body dissatisfaction than individuals belonging to older generations.
