Thesis (M.A.)--Georgetown University, 2023.
Includes bibliographical references
This thesis contains a reexamination of health corporations and companies committed to corporate social responsibility (CSR) and working with vulnerable stakeholders. Corporations that are committed to CSR must adopt clear communication strategies. Communication strategies are not only important in corporate companies but also in healthcare corporations. CSR is used as a marketing strategy for companies, and occasionally, it advocates for communication strategies that control stakeholders for the greater good. This thesis will focus on CSR in the healthcare industry by analyzing and highlighting the hypocrisy of hospitals valuing patient empowerment yet simultaneously misleading patients with clinical information on healthcare practice to advance its reputation and agenda socially and politically. It also focuses on enhancing the health communications between a patient and a physician to enforce patient-friendly medical information to have patients better understand the medical procedures. This thesis also signals the importance of delivering clear information on an organizational operative system to retain physicians. Informational transparency is required for a high level of patient satisfaction. Additionally, managers and administrators must be clear to patients and physicians with a management system to avoid corporate hypocrisy. Therefore, this thesis argues for implementing transparent health and business communication strategies due to the ethical obligations of providing high-quality healthcare to patients and increasing employee retention.
