Diverse financial crises have reignited concern for the risks involved in liquidity of banks and the consequences that come with it. As a result, an effective management of liquidity risk has been perceived as a cornerstone for banks' safety and an internal determinant of bank's healthy status. However, over the past few years, bank managers have not been paying the required attention to the elements of liquidity risk despite the various economic and banking crises across the globe. For this reason, this study examines the effect of liquidity risk management on the financial health of deposit money banks in Nigeria. Specifically, this study determines the effect of liquidity ratio on the financial health of Deposit Money Banks; examines the effect of loan to deposit on the financial health of Deposit Money Banks; analyzes the effect of cash to deposit on the financial health of Deposit Money Banks; investigates the effect of cash/cash equivalent on the financial health of Deposit Money Banks; and investigates the effect of cash reserve on the financial health of Deposit Money Banks in Nigeria. The study adopted the ex-post factor research design, using purposive sampling of 8 systemic important banks out of the 22 listed deposit money banks in Nigeria. The study obtained a 10-year data that span between 2011 and 2020, collected from the annual reports of the selected banks. The findings revealed that liquidity ratio has positive and significant impact on financial health of the banks, while cash reserve ratio, cash to deposit ratio have negative and significant effect on financial health of deposit money banks. The study concluded that liquidity risk management influences the financial health of deposit money banks in Nigeria. The study therefore recommended among others that banks' efforts should be channeled towards convincing depositors to save frequently. More so, the Central Bank of Nigeria should critically review and follow-up or monitor the effectiveness of liquidity policy tools (cash reserve, interest rate etc.). in banks and where necessary, appropriate sanctions placed on erring banks.
